Wheel Throwing Classes with The Square

Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art respectfully supports diversity, equity, and inclusion where all voices are heard… and they are offering wheel throwing classes to the deaf community in the Great Falls area!

The Square is offering 2 upcoming BeginningWheel-throwing classes for the Deaf Community starting in March. The 2 classes are free to attend with all supplies included. This VSA program is provided in 2020-2021 under a contract with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art (The Square), and Conservatory ASL Northwest (C.A.N.)

Due to the pandemic these classes will be held at a limited capacity, totaling 5 people max per class. All safety protocol will be adhered to which includes, face masks, hand-sanitizer, hand washing, and temperature checks, and a health screening form will be filled out each class by the parent or student.

Beginning Wheel Throwing for the Deaf Community
This inclusive, 6-week, class will teach you the basics of wheel throwing of functional pottery. Bowls and cylindrical forms will be explored as well as trimming and glaze techniques. The class will be interpreted and there will be extra time given for visual communication during each class session. The hosts of the class are aware of the unique needs associated with visual/manual communication.
Come be a part of this energetic and fun class as way for you to gain knowledge of this historical technique of throwing clay to make something beautiful and useful. No experience is necessary.
